Can I ever be too far gone?|

The darkness was captured in the small room. For once Laxus was glad that he had scared his last roommate away. He didn’t want to see anyone. His eyes were red from the many tears he had cried, and it was shown in his face that he hadn’t slept for days. He had dozed off a few times from pure exhaustion but would immediately wake up from nightmares. Of course, the pure heartache and constant reminder about how unfair life was, wasn’t enough to keep him up at night. The constant fear of Zeal entering his room and ending his life, or him kidnapping him again, or Loras cheating on him once again, were all burned into his memory as a plague. When he had just arrived in the loop it was easy enough to suppress. He was able to distract himself. He found other people to entertain him, had alcohol and later drugs, but it all couldn’t counter the past events that had him totally broken open. The only person left who somehow didn’t seem to hate him, was Blake. A teenage drug dealer (probably not his real age), who he worked for as a hitman. He had gotten a few text messages about potential victims he could kill, but even that wasn’t enough to get Laxus out of bed. It really felt like just a matter of time before his soul would finally leave his body.

You asked me
What do I think of life?
With a frustrated sigh Blake closed the window again, glaring at the darkness beyond it that stuck out against the complete brightness of his room. It felt ridiculous at this point, how he couldn’t even keep a window open at night in fear of hollows. All since the lockdown had started he just felt like every shadow was a possible danger now, ready to take him and rip his eyes out. It didn’t help that he had no defense. What was he going to do? Turn things invisible against invisible creatures? Even smoking wasn’t working out, though he didn’t care much anymore that his whole room and his clothes smelled like smoke as he put out another cigarette in a little tray. Pure exhaustion was killing him, but closing his eyes was a no-go too. All he had left to do was to try and focus on his business and ignore every other thought. Even that wasn’t working out as his only hitman didn’t text back. At wit’s end what else to do - hell, he had checked his finances four times in one night - the dealer decided to go and visit the hitman in question, pulling on a black hoodie and shoving a baggie with weed in his pocket. With his phone’s flashlight turned up to full luminosity that highlighted the circles under his eyes he walked through the seemingly endless halls until he finally reached Laxus’ rooms. Sighing he stopped for the door, glancing around him a final time before knocking. ”Hey,” he spoke slightly hesitant against the door. ”It’s me, Blake, you awake?” he went on. Maybe Laxus was asleep, maybe standing here was just stupid. At the same time trying didn’t hurt.

Can I ever be too far gone?|

Laxus’ eyes had adjusted enough to the familiar darkness to see the define creases in the roof above him. Normally the night wasn’t a go to for him as it was the biggest fuel of his nightmares and fears, but as the daylight brought just as much trouble he didn’t see any use anymore in turning on a light in the darkness. It was useless. He’d still feel that fear, he’d still feel so useless. Everything was just useless. He let out another sigh, trying to figure out what to do with his miserable life. For a split second he even thought about an attempt to return to Loras, but even he knew that that would be useless. Loras wouldn’t want him back and Laxus shouldn’t want him back. He shook his head and turned on his other side. He perked his eyes at the wall as his new scenery. He was planning on staring at the white wall for the next few hours when he heard a knocking at his door. ”Hey,” it sounded softly. Laxus frowned lightly at the familiarization of the voice. Was that…? ”It’s me, Blake, you awake?” the voice continued, confirming Laxus’s thoughts. He slowly got up, feeling his head spin and ach after having laid down for such a long period of time. For a moment he didn’t know what to do. He yearned to talk to the only person who seemed to care for him, but on the other hand didn’t want to bother Blake either and he could guess that Blake only visited him for business purposes. In any case it would be at least some kind of distraction from the struggles and so Laxus decided to get off the bad. He had to set a few steps to keep his balance, but eventually managed to get to the door. When opening the door, he was greeted with a bright flashlight. Laxus closed his eyes for a second, not used to the bright light, squeezing them closely and trying to define the boy he knew as Blake. ”Blake, what are you doing here?” he asked, his voice husk for not speaking for so long. His eyes slowly adjusted more to the light, noticing that Blake didn’t look to dandy himself either. ”You look like shit,” he added blatantly.

What do I think of life?
Sleeping wasn’t working out and doing the exact same math a fifth time wasn’t going to change anything either, leaving the dealer really only with one option. Flashlight turned on and everything on high alert he started making his way to Laxus’ room, cursing himself every single time a shadow made him have the same cold feeling of dread. At this point it couldn’t be healthy anymore, but there was nothing he could do about it either. Hollows just scared the crap out of him. After what seemed like ages Blake finally arrived at the door of his hitman, only now really considering that the guy could easily be asleep. Still, he tried it with a knock and soft words. There was the creaking of a bed on the other side of the door that gave him some hope as he waited on a response. Slowly that hope started to fade away as seconds passed by with nothing, until the door was opened and he almost jumped back, instead shining his flashlight right in Laxus’ face. Quickly he pointed the light down once realisation hit. In the still bright light he could easily make the other out to be looking just as bad as he was looking, if not worse. ”Blake, what are you doing here?” he questioned, voice rough. The dealer swallowed, staying silent for a second. He knew exactly why he was there, if he was ready to admit it was another thing. The fear of being alone didn’t sound very business-man like or like the impression he wanted to make on people. ”You look like shit,” Laxus added before he could say anything else. Blake’s eyes slid over the guy. His red eyes (from crying?), his exhausted, unkempt look, his husk voice. ”You don’t look much better yourself,” he replied back. ”What’s going on Laxus?” he continued, leaving the question what he was doing here at this hour unanswered. It didn’t matter anyway.

All it takes is one
and I'm gone and a thousand

'til the end

Of course, Laxus hadn’t expected any visitors and even if he did, he didn’t know for sure if he wanted them. He was pretty sure that everyone hated him and wanted him dead, aside from Blake. Therefore, it wasn’t that got up until he knew for sure that it was Blake on the other side of the door. Still it begged the question to why the boy was here. He opened the door, hissing slightly at the bright light that got flashed into his face, before squeezing his eyes together to make out Blake’s silhouette. It seemed like the boy wasn’t doing the best himself either. Laxus didn’t try to make it sound nice. Blake knew he didn’t mean any harm – well not with his words. He noticed the glance over him and Laxus was suddenly very aware of how he looked. He must’ve looked like a train wreck. A soft sigh left his lips. Luckily, Blake had seen him way worse. It wasn’t anything new. ”You don’t look much better yourself,” Blake responded. Laxus simply shrugged at the words. They could both guess what was going on. ”What’s going on Laxus?” Laxus shook his head at the question. The fact that Blake was here, at this time, could already imply that the dealer couldn’t sleep either. ”I don’t want to talk about it,” Laxus huffed. He opened the door a bit more so Blake could enter the room. ”I don’t know why you’re here, and I get it if you don’t want to talk about it either, but there’s no need for you to go again,” Laxus spoke, silently trying to imply that Blake should stay as it would be the perfect comfort for the both of them.

Somehow Laxus had turned into the only option to really go to. Blake knew the logistics of why, of course, he was smart. The other was the only one who really knew things about him that he didn’t even want for people to know. Even now he didn’t want to talk about it, the constant fear of hollows, but he knew Laxus knew enough not to ask questions about it either. That and the fact he knew about Blake’s business and it meant he didn’t have to hide any of that. As good as he was at hiding it and making sure he never got caught it still was something that forced him to constantly be on guard. So really, the thing was being able to let his guard down around Laxus. Sort of. Clearly the other wasn’t doing the best either, which he gladly pointed out to get to focus of the fact he was also looking like a disaster. The question what was going on barely needed to be asked, but he did anyway. Just in case he wanted to talk about it. ”I don’t want to talk about it,” came the not very unexpected huffed reply. Yet the door was opened. Blake glanced through the dark clammy hall a final time before stepping in. There was no returning back to his own room, he didn’t want to. He just wanted to sleep. ”I don’t know why you’re here, and I get it if you don’t want to talk about it either, but there’s no need for you to go again,” Laxus spoke. The message was clear to the dealer as he softly nodded. They didn’t have to talk, but they wouldn’t have to be alone either. ”Thank you,” he replied with a tired smile. His exhaustion was messing with his further judgement enough that he didn’t think twice about walking over to the bed and falling down there. Feeling even more of the tiredness wash over him as soon as he laid down, but finally wanting to give in to it now he wasn’t alone in a room. ”I haven’t slept in days,” he gave all explanation that was needed as he moved to make room for Laxus.

As the door opened it was already clear that both weren’t in the best mental place at the moment. They both knew each other’s problems and they both didn’t seem to want to talk about it. Still, aside from that, Laxus didn’t want to be alone either. He was sure Blake had come here for the same reason, even though the dealer didn’t say it. Laxus opened the door and subtly made his intentions clear. Blake nodded and Laxus was relieved that he didn’t have to explain it further. He’d feel to fragile to explain it. ”Thank you,” Blake thanked him. Laxus nodded and gave slight smile back, before closing the door behind Blake. He turned around to see Blake flop down on his back and aside from the situation, he could still smile a bit. At least he didn’t have to be alone tonight. Laxus walked closer. ”I haven’t slept in days,” Blake said. Laxus sighed softly and laid down next to the boy. ”I’m sorry to hear that,” he muttered. Unabashed he laid his arms around him and pulled him closer. ”Let’s hope you find some sleep tonight,” he added with a last smile, before his eyes closed – still very tired of everything. ”Goodnight,” he mumbled, before falling asleep with the comforting warmth next to him.
